Profile of Barbara Cassin, on the occasion of the CNRS Gold Medal that was awarded to her in November 2018. Philologist, philosopher, hellenist, academician and Director of Research at the CNRS, she conducts research on the power of words and language.
This award, the most important in the French scientific world, ""crowns a body of work permeated by the question of the power of words, language, and translation as a means of ""dealing with"" cultural differences, and has consistently combined contemporary issues and in-depth research on Greek antiquity texts. His work is an important contribution to the philosophy of language research, from both historical and practical perspectives. They are also the work of a committed researcher, specifically on multilingualism"". Emeritus research director at the CNRS, Barbara Cassin is a member of the Léon Robin Centre for Research on Ancient Thought, which she directed from 2006 to 2009, and the TransferS Laboratory of Excellence.
