Albert Einstein predicted that certain highly energetic events in the cosmos, such as the fusion of black holes, must produce a burst of so-called gravitational waves. Since the Big Bang generated a large quantity from its very beginnings, managing to observe gravitational waves would provide more knowledge about the birth of the Universe.
