Fil modèle composé d'un faisceau de cordelettes rouges et vertes. Ces fibres naturelles comme le coton ou la laine de mouton, une fois torsadées forment des fils. La torsion des fibres leur donne leur solidité et lorsque la torsion est suffisante, il est impossible de séparer les cordelettes sans les rompre. Des expériences sur ces fils modèles sont menées pour comprendre comment la torsion empêche le glissement des fibres.
