CEREEP-Ecotron aquatic mesocosm platform

CEREEP-Ecotron aquatic mesocosm platform. This platform is dedicated to the experimental study of aquatic ecosystems, and comprises a series of closely inter-related experimental basins used in particular to investigate stagnant fresh water ecosystems. The platform allows the functionality and scalability of the dimensions of aquatic ecosystems to be studied as well as constraints related to physical diversity (turbulence and sediment) and temperature increases. The platform includes two types of experimental basin designed to respond to a variety of different issues, together with spaces for research and farming. The installation’s dedicated array of instruments enables researchers to make a large number of in situ measurements automatically or manually. The experimental systems are supplied with water by the main utility network or by rainwater recovery.

CNRS Images,

Our work is guided by the way scientists question the world around them and we translate their research into images to help people to understand the world better and to awaken their curiosity and wonderment.
