Summary

The purpose of the ESCOMPTE program is to develop a database designed to validate the instruments used to model atmospheric pollution and especially photochemical pollution, which is more common in summer. The project took place between June 5 and July 16 2001 in the area of Marseille-étang de Berre, and involved several types of measuring equipment: VHF radar, sodar, constant-volume balloons, airplanes such as ARAT, etc.ESCOMPTE also investigates the interactions between the soil, vegetation, and atmosphere.

CNRS Images,

Our work is guided by the way scientists question the world around them and we translate their research into images to help people to understand the world better and to awaken their curiosity and wonderment.
