Maulidi Ya Hom is a religious performance stemming from Muslim Sufi orders, here held in Zanzibar, Tanzania. It was very often associated with mortification practices which are nowadays abandoned. On the point of disappearing, Maulidi Ya Hom continued to survive in the countryside.
