Summary

During the 19th century a craze for microscopy developed in England and France. Microscopy technicians like Harold Dalton created real paintings on a microscopic scale using micro-organisms (diatoms and radiolarians) and fragments of butterfly wing.

CNRS Images,

Our work is guided by the way scientists question the world around them and we translate their research into images to help people to understand the world better and to awaken their curiosity and wonderment.
