Surface d'un corail "Acanthastrea echinata" sur la pente externe de Wallis, dans les îles Wallis-et-Futuna. Le squelette calcaire de ce corail est couvert de micro-structures colorées. Le CRIOBE est l’un des plus éminents laboratoires français pour l’étude des écosystèmes coralliens. Il développe une recherche pluridisciplinaire – à la croisée de l’écologie, la génétique et la chimie – axée sur les récifs coralliens de demain.
