Cardiovascular system of a mouse embryo observed using a binocular microscope. The heart cells have been coloured blue, green and red via fluorescence through the use of a transgene. Here, research scientists are observing the development of the embryo in order to understand the origin and progression of congenital cardiopathy. This study will enable earlier diagnosis and monitoring, which will significantly improve the quality of life in certain people affected by this pathology. In addition, it has been discovered that certain muscle cells in the heart and face share a common origin, leading research scientists to attempt to analyse their differentiation.

Our work is guided by the way scientists question the world around them and we translate their research into images to help people to understand the world better and to awaken their curiosity and wonderment.
