Électrolyse d'une solution aqueuse saturée en CO2 et contenant un catalyseur à base de fer

Electrolysis of an aqueous solution saturated with carbon dioxide (CO2) and containing an iron-based molecular catalyst. Electricity delivered to the carbon electrode enables, with the catalyst, conversion of CO2 into carbon monoxide (CO). The latter accumulates in the gas phase above the solution. This iron-based molecular catalyst enables CO2 reduction that is considerably faster and more stable over time than the usual catalysts. The goal is to develop a process to exploit the carbon dioxide, one of the principal greenhouse gases.

CNRS Images,

Our work is guided by the way scientists question the world around them and we translate their research into images to help people to understand the world better and to awaken their curiosity and wonderment.
