Relevés dans les carrières romaines d'Umm Balad (Egypte). La pierre d'Umm-Balad est une quartzo-diorite à nette dominante noire. Dans cette région du désert oriental d'Egypte des fouilles ont aussi été organisées sur des forts de l'armée romaine.
