Microscopie à effet tunnel ultravide basse température. Le but est de travailler à basse température afin que les atomes soient moins mobiles. L'ultravide est nécessaire pour éviter les pollutions de la surface. Ce microscope autorise une spectroscopie de la surface d'un objet à l'échelle atomique (Réf. Le journal du CNRS Mai 2000).
