Measuring the air
The purpose of the ESCOMPTE program is to develop a database designed to validate the instruments used to model atmospheric pollution and especially photochemical pollution, which is more common in summer. The project took place between June 5 and July 16 2001 in the area of Marseille-étang de Berre, and involved several types of measuring equipment: VHF radar, sodar, constant-volume balloons, airplanes such as ARAT, etc.ESCOMPTE also investigates the interactions between the soil, vegetation, and atmosphere.
