A researcher makes a cockroach and a robot meet
A researcher makes a cockroach and a robot meet. The robot isn't yet dressed with its chemical envelop on which the researchers will spray cockroach pheromones. The LEURRE started in 2002, the aim is to create mixed groups of cockroaches and robots and to see whether the robots can control the insects. Researchers have to isolate the cockroach pheromones and spray them on to a "dress" which covers the robot. Their task is to make the robot's chemical "dress". With this smell, the robot will be accepted by the cockroaches as one of them.
