A children's game or a ritual of spirit possession?
In southeastern Ivory Coast, Véronique Duchesne filmed two sequences, in 1993 and 1999, showing the role of play in the learning of religious practices, beginning in early childhood.
In a courtyard, children play at the ritual of possession which is central to the worship of the boson, anthropomorphic nature spirits. They reproduce the songs, dance steps, rhythms, and staging, as well as the physical stance of the dancers.
