Journey into the Earth

A video clip produced in conjunction with the publication of Vincent Deparis and Hilaire Legros's book "Voyage à l'intérieur de la terre," at the 2000 Salon du Livre in Paris.

The work traces the development of ideas about the Earth's interior from antiquity to the present, and identifies the principal stages in the development of a vision of what lies in the depths of our planet.

The authors comment on the earliest drawings representing the Earth's interior, those of René Descartes (1644) and Athanasius Kircher (1665), then compare these with the modern images produced by Stacey.

Our work is guided by the way scientists question the world around them and we translate their research into images to help people to understand the world better and to awaken their curiosity and wonderment.
