Dendro-anthracology: studies of archaeological charcoals

The Archéozoologie, Archéobotanique : Sociétés, pratiques et environnements (AASPE) unit studies the natural and cultural interactions between human societies and animal and vegetal populations, by analysing the remains found in archaeological excavations. Their main methods are zooarchaeology and archaeobotany, that constitute the field "archaeobiology". The unit belongs to the CNRS and the French National Museum of Natural History (MNHN). It uses advanced technology and the reference inventories of the MNHN.
