Table glaciaire sur la Mer de Glace, un glacier du massif alpin du Mont-Blanc. Ce rocher en équilibre sur un piédestal de glace est le résultat d'un processus naturel, la sublimation, qui fait passer la glace du solide au gazeux sans l'intermédiaire de l'état liquide. L’ombre du rocher limite le rayonnement solaire nécessaire à la sublimation de la glace, permettant ainsi de sculpter le piédestal.
