Coupe de racine de lin observée en microscopie confocale

Section of a flax root, labelled using the BLISS strategy, observed using a confocal microscope. This labelling strategy involves the incorporation of monolignols followed by the click ligation of fluorescent reporters. The natural fluorescence of the flax can be seen in blue, with the labelled monolignols in green and red. This method enables research scientists to study lignin formation. Lignin is one of the main components of wood. This biomolecule is present in all vascular plants, ligneous and herbaceous, making them rigid and water resistant.

CNRS Images,

Our work is guided by the way scientists question the world around them and we translate their research into images to help people to understand the world better and to awaken their curiosity and wonderment.
