Triple marquage d’un neurone d’hippocampe de rat

Triple marking of a rat hippocampus neuron, observed using full-field fluorescence imaging. The transferrin receptor is marked in green. Transferrin is a protein synthesised by the liver and involved in transporting iron. In red, the surface marking of the GluA1 sub-unit of the AMPA-type receptors activated by glutamate. In blue, the surface marking of the GluA2 sub-unit of the same receptors. Note the near-perfect co-location of the GluA1 and GluA2 sub-units (in magenta) that are part of the same receptor, while the transferrin receptors are located differently.
