Reine et ouvrière de fourmi "Tetraponera aethiops" vivant dans les tiges creuses des arbres "Barteria fistulosa" et "Barteria dewevrei", dans la forêt tropicale humide au Cameroun. La piqûre douloureuse de cette fourmi d'un cm de long dissuade les herbivores de s'attaquer à son arbre hôte.
