Fourmis "Aphomomyrmex afer" vivant dans les tiges renflées et creuses de la plante "Leonardoxa africana subsp. letouzeyi", dans le parc national de Korup au Cameroun. En échange de l'hébergement et de la nourriture, la fourmi protège la plante. Ces deux espèces sont endémiques des forêts tropicales humides du sud-ouest du Cameroun et du sud-est du Nigeria.
