Plasma membrane (PM) lateral organization predicts the existence of a patchwork of microdomains coordinating specific functions. Among them, lipid rafts are well-described examples from the animal field that are poorly known in plants. Researchers show that Remorin protein has typical biochemical properties of a lipid raft protein, localizes in patches at the PM and in plasmodesmata, and is involved in potato virus X cell-to-cell propagation. The cover shows a two-dimension maximal projection of a tobacco epidermal cell transiently expressing GFP fused to Remorin, highlighting the putative membrane raft domains of the PM.
