La petite ville de Puerto Natales, en Patagonie chilienne, a longtemps vécu de la pêche, celle-ci est aujourd'hui relayée par le tourisme (le bâtiment le plus élevé est un hotel de luxe). Les touristes arrivent par avion (par Punta Arenas) ou en bateau, par le labyrinthe de fjords qui mettent la ville en communication avec le Pacifique.
