Information génomique et structurale (IGS)
MARSEILLE CEDEX 09
The discovery of the first giant virus in 2003, mimivirus, led to a thematic refocusing of the IGS on the diversity and biology of giant viruses, both ancient and modern (megavirus, pandoravirus, mollivirus, pithovirus and marseillevirus). The core activity of the IGS is now the understanding of the giant virus-host cell biological system, while maintaining exploratory activity in the polar regions (Arctic and Antarctic).
