Pavilion of Bellevue (The)

Denis Guthleben, historian and scientist attached to the CNRS History Committee chronicles the history of the Bellevue pavilion located in Meudon, from its origins to present days.
From a large luxury hotel to a scientific research centre, through a restaurant that left its name to famous recipes (e.g., the lobster à la Bellevue) or Isadora Duncan's dance school or a military hospital for the wounded of World War I or the national office of inventions, the Bellevue pavilion has had several lives.
Scientific personalities have marked the life of this site. Among others, Jules-Louis Breton, politician, first director of the Office des Inventions, who contributed to its development and association with the Salon des Arts ménagers, Professor Jean Comandon, medical doctor, passionate about photography and scientific cinema, Aimé Cotton, physicist, with his fundamental research he carried out thanks to the great electromagnet, to name a few.
