Rediscovering the colours of the Age of Enlightenment

At the Cité internationale de la tapisserie d'Aubusson, scientists are studying works composed of silk and wool yarns, coloured by natural substances several hundred years ago.
Using methods that allow them to go back in time, they are trying to determine the recipes used by the dyers of the time.

CNRS Images,

Our work is guided by the way scientists question the world around them and we translate their research into images to help people to understand the world better and to awaken their curiosity and wonderment.
