Expérience ALICE (A Large Ion Collider Experiment). Les deux grandes portes de l'aimant solénoïdal "L3" (en rouge) sont ouvertes afin de permettre les interventions de grande envergure et les améliorations prévues durant le second long arrêt technique du Grand collisionneur de hadrons (LHC).
ALICE est un détecteur d’ions lourds installé sur l’anneau du LHC. Il étudie le plasma de quarks et de gluons, un état de la matière qui aurait existé juste après le Big Bang.
