Male mouse lemur, photographed at the animal facility at the MECADEV adaptive mechanisms and evolution unit in Brunoy. The mouse lemur, Microcebus murinus, is a nocturnal lemur endemic to Madagascar. It is studied in order to understand the adaptive responses of its organism to its environment. Its behaviour and physiology are highly dependent on variations in external factors. Its high level of adaptation and its particularly well-developed brain make it a model of choice for studying ageing and its impact on the organism.
