The NFS laboratory of SPIRAL 2

The NFS (Neutrons For Science) laboratory of SPIRAL 2 (2nd generation linear radioactive ion production system), installed at the Large National Heavy Ion Accelerator (GANIL) in Caen. The protons and the deutons delivered by the SPIRAL 2 superconductive linear accelerator (LINAC) can generate extremely intense neutron beams. NFS uses these neutrons for experiments in fundamental physics and in a large number of applications. Located more than 9 m underground, SPIRAL 2 is dedicated to nuclear physics and develops applications for different areas of activity including nuclear medicine, energy, aerospace etc.

CNRS Images,

Our work is guided by the way scientists question the world around them and we translate their research into images to help people to understand the world better and to awaken their curiosity and wonderment.
