Intervention sur un groupeur d'électrons. A droite, un injecteur d'ALTO, l'Accélérateur linéaire et Tandem à Orsay, de 50 MeV (mégaélectron-volt) et à gauche, en jaune, une section accélératrice. Un faisceau de 10 µA (microampères) d'électrons est formé et accéléré à 50 MeV. Il sera, en particulier, dirigé sur une cible épaisse de carbure d'uranium pour créer des noyaux exotiques.
