La mesure permet d'obtenir un diffractogramme de l'échantillon, une véritable carte d'identité (composition chimique et structure cristallographique). L'objectif est de caractériser des alliages et des composés intermétalliques pour le stockage réversible chimique ou électrochimique de l'hydrogène.
