Diffractomètre de rayons X aux petits angles, SAXS (Small-angle X-ray scattering). Cette technique permet de caractériser la structure de la matière, donnant des informations sur les dimensions et la forme des molécules ou macromolécules et leurs assemblages (sphère, cylindre, étoile, peigne...). L'analyse d'un échantillon par diffraction ou diffusion de rayons X est non destructive et donne des informations sur la structure moyenne. La taille des objets étudiés peut varier de 100 nm à 0,5 nm. Il est ainsi possible de caractériser la distance moyenne entre les molécules et/ou la longueur d'une molécule. Cette caractérisation peut servir de point de départ pour un projet sur un des très grands équipements (SAXS à Soleil ou à l'ESRF, SANS au LLB ou à l'ILL).
