Les gorgones sont les éléments essentiels des paysages sous-marins de Méditerranée nord occidentale. Ici au large de Marseille sur le banc du Veyron, la gorgone pourpre est "Paramuricea clavata" et la blanche "Eunicella singularis". Ces deux espèces sont particulièrement sensibles au changement climatique global et notamment aux anomalies thermiques estivales.
