Corail rouge, "Corallium rubrum", à 25 m de profondeur, près de l'île de Riou, au large de Marseille. Le corail rouge fait partie du décor des tombants et des grottes de Méditerranée. Ici, les polypes du corail rouge déploient chacun leurs 8 tentacules. Contrairement aux coraux tropicaux, sa couleur rouge n'est pas due à des algues symbiotiques mais à la présence de pigments caroténoïdes.
