Les cals embryogènes de rosiers (amas de cellules totipotentes capables de régénérer des plantules) sont obtenus en cultivant des tissus différenciés dans un milieu de culture approprié. Sous l'action de facteurs de croissance, les tissus se dédifférencient et aboutissent à la formation des cellules totipotentes (capables d'évoluer en tout type de tissus).
