Essai sous vide thermique pour simuler l'environnement spatial. On mesure le comportement des pièces d'optique d'une partie de l'instrument SPIRE (Spectral and Photometric Imaging REceiver, qui sera embarqué sur le satellite Herschel de l'Agence Spatiale Européenne) au vide et leur résistance au froid. De l'azote liquide est utilisé pour obtenir une température de -196°C.
