En Guyane française, près de 30 espèces de chauves-souris (parmi 89 recensées) sont frugivores et participent à la dissémination de certains types de graines. Ce "Platyrrhinus helleri" a transporté un gros fruit dont il laissera tomber la graine au sol, une fois la pulpe consommée. (Station des NOURAGUES, Guyane française, Mars 1990).
