Cristaux d'une protéine mitochondriale humaine. Il s'agit de l'aspartyl-ARNt synthétase, une enzyme impliquée dans le processus de synthèse des protéines dans la mitochondrie humaine. L'étude cristallographique de l'aspartyl-ARNt synthétase (AspRS) vise à comprendre les particularités de son fonctionnement, la façon dont elle reconnaît ses substrats et catalyse une réaction chimique. Elle viise également à comprendre ses dysfonctionnements chez certains mutants de l'enzyme, identifiés chez des patients atteints de neuropathies ou de myopathies.
