Réacteur MEDIASE dans le foyer du grand four solaire de 1 MW
Réacteur MEDIASE (Moyen d'Essai et de DIagnostic en Ambiance Spatiale Extrême) sur le site PROMES d'Odeillo-Font Romeu. Installé au foyer du grand four solaire de 1 mégawatt, ce réacteur a servi à étudier le comportement et les propriétés thermo-radiatives de matériaux de la sonde Parker Solar Probe. Le four solaire de 1 MW est composé d'une parabole géante qui concentre en son foyer les rayons solaires qu'elle reçoit depuis 63 héliostats (miroirs plans orientables).
