Fourmis "Petalomyrmex phylax" vivant dans une tige creuse d'une plante "Leonardoxa africana", au Cameroun. La tige a été ouverte pour montrer les fourmis. Elles y cultivent un champignon de l'ordre des "Chaetothyriales" (tache noire au milieu) qui leur sert ensuite de nourriture. Cette symbiose à trois partenaires est endémique de la forêt tropicale humide du littoral camerounais.
