Jules Hoffmann, CNRS gold medal in 2011
Jules Hoffmann, Nobel Prize in Medicine and CNRS Gold Medal in 2011, here at the laboratory he created and directed :"Réponse immunitaire et développement chez les insectes" in Strasbourg.
An internationally renowned biologist, emeritus research director at the CNRS and professor at the University of Strasbourg, Jules Hoffmann has devoted his work to the study of the genetic and molecular mechanisms responsible for innate immunity in insects. His many discoveries in this field have led to a new vision of the defence mechanisms that organisms, from the most primitive to humans, use against infectious agents.
CNRS Images,
Our work is guided by the way scientists question the world around them and we translate their research into images to help people to understand the world better and to awaken their curiosity and wonderment.
