Observation par des chercheurs d'une expédition multidisciplinaire d'un écoulement de bischofite, à proximité du dôme hydrothermal de Dallol, dans la région Afar, en Ethiopie. La bischofite, du chlorure de magnésium hydraté, s'écoule ici à une température en surface de 116 °C. Elle alimente des piscines chaudes enrichies en sels magnésiens qui sont dépourvues de vie. Au fond, les canyons de sel du flanc ouest du dôme de Dallol.
