Champignon symbiotique mycorhizien observé dans un segment de racine d'une plante terrestre

Root of a land plant containing a mycorrhizal symbiotic fungus, Gigaspora rosea. The root is observed using bright-field imaging, while the fungus is marked in green and observed in the root tissues using a confocal microscope with a specific colourant: a fluorochrome-coupled lectin. The fungus penetrates inside the plant cells, where it forms structures known as arbuscules. This is where the two partners exchange nutrients.
