Cyrile Deranlot places a substrate into the airlock of a cathode sputtering machine coupled to a vacuum evaporator. This system is used to deposit magnetic nanostructures for spintronics. In particular, it was used for development of the gold and tungsten alloy resulting from research undertaken by the CNRS/Thales Unité Mixte de Physique. This innovative alloy is now exploited by the DAUMET start-up, which has christened it SpinD Gold. Its innovative (colour, lustre, density, cost) and environmental qualities are of interest to operators in the watchmaking/jewellery trade.
