Jules Hoffmann, Nobel Prize in Medicine and CNRS Gold Medal in 2011

The CNRS Gold Medal, the most prestigious scientific distinction in France, has been awarded this year to Jules Hoffmann, an internationally renowned biologist. Emeritus Senior Researcher at CNRS and Professor at the Université de Strasbourg, Hoffmann has dedicated his work to the study of the genetic and molecular mechanisms responsible for innate immunity in insects.
