Refroidissement d'atomes d'hélium par faisceau lumineux. Grâce au processus découvert à l'Ecole Normale Supérieure et baptisé "Piégeage cohérent de population sélectif en vitesse", la dispersion en vitesse finale des atomes est inférieure à la vitesse associée au recul survenant lors de l'absorption ou de l'émission d'un seul photon.
