Lévitation d'une statuette, du sculpteur Tanguy, contenant des aimants permanents Nd2Fe14B (néodyme-fer-bore) au dessus d'un lit de supraconducteurs YBa2Cu3O7 (yttrium-baryum-cuivre-oxygène) texturés, refroidis à la température de l'azote liquide (-196°C). Un aimant placé au voisinage d'un supraconducteur induit des courants à la surface du supraconducteur. Ces courants induisent eux-mêmes un champ magnétique opposé au premier d'où ce phénomène de lévitation (effet Meissner).
