L'objectif est de permettre au bateau de naviguer dans n'importe quelle direction par rapport au vent, en se servant de celui-ci comme force motrice. L'hélice aérienne actionne l'hélice marine, lui offrant la puissance nécessaire pour naviguer face au vent.
