A spade with an articulated foot to reduce strain. It aimed to make gardening work easier to bear and was fitted with a pedal, a cam, and a lever. When the lever is activated, the cam turns, thus dumping earth to the side. Office national des recherches scientifiques et industrielles et des inventions. Extract from the book Inventions 1915-1939 by Luce Lebart.
